1. What is Wyndholme Village?
     Wyndholme Village is a private, planned development designed for deaf, hard-of-hearing and hearing seniors by a dedicated team of architects, planners, and designers. Wyndholme caters to the growing needs of senior citizens across the country with special communication tools for people who are deaf and hard-of-hearing.

2. Why is Wyndholme Village located in Baltimore, Maryland?
     Jim Lancelotta was inspired to build Wyndholme on his family’s estate by his mother, Grace, who is the only hearing child in her deaf family. Once Jim realized the acute needs of deaf seniors, and the fact that the marketplace wasn’t addressing that need, he focused his efforts on building Wyndholme Village. With the help and selfless dedication of Barbara Willigan and her team of volunteers from the Maryland Association of the Deaf, Senior Housing Committee, Jim began to envision what Wyndholme Village should be. It is Jim’s hope that Wyndholme will serve as a national model for similar communities across the country in the near future.
     Wyndholme Village offers privacy and comfort to its residents and is
within minutes of the major cities of Baltimore and Washington, D.C.

3. How big is the Wyndholme Village property?
     The property consists of 34 acres of ground, located on the Southwest side of the city of Baltimore. Wyndholme is located on a 13 acre high plateau offering a spectacular view of the city skyline from the upper floors. Completely surrounded by century-old trees, the community’s residents are provided not only a beautiful natural backdrop, but also a wonderful sense of privacy.

4. How far is Wyndholme from recreational and cultural places?
     There is an incredible variety of things to do and see in the Washington / Baltimore / Philadelphia / New York corridor. Our Information Center has a helpful staff who will provide you with any information you may need, as well as information about day trips to surrounding areas.

5. Will there be a Wyndholme Village elsewhere in the country?
     With the success of Wyndholme Village, Lancelotta and Associates is committed to coordinate, assist and build with local deaf, hard-of-hearing and hearing people, similar communities in other parts of the nation.

6. Why would deaf, hard-of-hearing and hearing senior citizens want to live at Wyndholme Village?
     Wyndholme provides not only a wonderful environment and lifestyle and also a beautifully designed community located within minutes of various cultural, social, and recreational activities. Emphasis on specific deaf and hard-of-hearing needs has been built into the design by deaf architect Mickey Fields, and the entire Wyndholme Village development team.

7. Are the staff deaf?
     We have many deaf professionals serving residents. Over 50% of service employees are guaranteed to be able to communicate in sign language for the benefit of our deaf and hard-of-hearing seniors.

8. What are the employees of Wyndholme Village like?
     They are professionals who present a neat, pleasant, and courteous manner at all times.

9. Are there age requirements at Wyndholme Village?
     Wyndholme Village is designed as a community for senior citizens. The primary resident of any residence will have to be deaf or hard-of-hearing and 55 years old. Due to zoning regulations if hearing, the primary resident has to be 60 years old. Wyndholme Village regulations allow no residents under 21 years of age.

10. Can I volunteer or work at Wyndholme Village?
     Certainly. There are many activities and services at Wyndholme Village where your voluntary involvement will be appreciated and important to many other residents. There are also employment opportunities as the community grows.

11. How many residences are planned for Wyndholme?
     Over 930 private residences.

12. Is smoking allowed?
     All of the buildings at Wyndholme are non-smoking for the health of all residents. Smoking policy elsewhere is determined by application of local laws.

13. Can I visit the site of Wyndholme Village?
     Absolutely--we encourage everyone to visit. Private individual and group tours are available on an appointment-only basis. We will be pleased to provide you with transportation for groups and any additional information you may need.

15. What is the priority list and why are you offering it?
     Due to the limited quantity of residences offered in each phase coupled with strong demand, the priority list was established to give the first depositors at Wyndholme Village the best pricing, choice of location and choice of model. The priority list assures a “first come, first served” basis in securing a new lifestyle at Wyndholme Village.

16. What is the benefit of sending in a deposit now?
     By sending a Reservation Deposit in now, you increase your chance of getting the residence you want at introductory rates. Remember if you change your mind, your deposit is fully refundable.

17. I want to reserve a residence today...what is the procedure?
     Call us today and we will send you an information package. After that it’s very simple.

  • Review the information package provided and select the first and second choice of a residence you would like.
  • Fill out the Residence Reservation Deposit Remittance form.
  • Fill out the Preliminary Personal Information form.
  • Mail these with your refundable reservation fee of $2,500 payable to the “Wyndholme Village, L.L.C. Escrow Account”.

Once it is determined that your choice of residence is available, you will be provided with a priority number and contacted to discuss more details.
