Please log on this space next week as there will be
very IMPORTANT news
about Wyndholme Village.
In other news late last week, this story appeared
in the following publication:
DeafDigest Blue - July 23, 2000
Volume 4 Number 51 Blue
Barry Strassler, Editor
Wyndholme Village is back into bankruptcy courts.
Creditor Leeds Federal Savings Bank has filed a motion to either dismiss
Wyndholme's bankruptcy protection to create foreclosure or to go into
Chapter 7 which leads to liquidation.
Why? Leeds is claiming that Wyndholme has not filed
a Disclosure Statement or a Plan of Reorganization; is still losing
money; having a diminishing value of estate; failed to pay real estate
taxes, among other things.
Wyndholme Village is located near Baltimore and
proposes to be the Washington-Baltimore area's first housing for deaf
senior citizens.
James M. Lancelotta, Managing Partner of Wyndholme
Village, LLC gave the following response to the above article.
“Millions of dollars, and years of dedicated
service by many volunteers, along with our team of experts, have been
expended in an effort to prove there is truly a need for Wyndholme
Village.
It is very disappointing to me that Mr. Strassler,
the editor of DeafDigest Blue, would publish information without
presenting all of the important facts. I am sure his publication
is read and respected by many deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals
nationwide. For him to act in such an irresponsible manner is
truly disheartening.
It appears to me, based on this most recent article
published about Wyndholme Village and in previous articles in his
publication, Mr. Strassler is on a personal crusade to undermine the
success of Wyndholme Village. What a pity! In fairness, I
would appreciate him having the decency to discuss the topics he intends
to publish about Wyndholme Village with Barbara Willigan, Executive Vice
President of Wyndholme Village or myself before he authors any
additional articles on such an important issue. All he had to do
is call us. We have an 800 number and widely publish it. I
understand he only works about 35 miles or so from Wyndholme Village.
As far as I know, he has never even visited our community to learn about
it first hand.
I invite him to come and visit and get all the
facts straight before he attacks this community that is important to
many of his readers. People read his material and rely on his
words. He has a responsibility to publish all of the facts!
