Hello. I thought I would take this opportunity to let you know about our
marketing efforts since the beginning of the year.
As you might have guessed our resources have been limited but
we are hoping this will change in the very near future.
Thank goodness for the goodwill
of deaf and hard-of-hearing people far and wide who have been helping
us when and where they can. They
are writing articles about the community; they are looking at our www.wyndholmevillage.com web site; they are writing and calling for more information; they are
talking about Wyndholme to their friends; and they are attending the
variety of events we are holding at this amazing location at 5205
Frederick Avenue in Baltimore, Maryland.
This past Friday we held our monthly Dingo game
at the Wyndholme Village pavilion.
About 18 seniors participated.
For the first time, the participants won the first three
prizes instead of the bonus!
Please be aware that for the Dingo game next
month -- the cash prize for O will be about $640.00. Come over and play to win the big prize!
On Saturday, April 29 the Metropolitan
Washington Deaf Community Center (MWDCC) held the annual Frederick C.
Schreiber Leadership Award Ceremony in honor of Francis C. Higgins
(posthumously) at the Wyndholme Village pavilion.
Thanks to the excellent weather, 63 or so people attended the
event. The program
consisted of friends sharing memories of Francis C. Higgins,
particularly his achievements and his sense of humor.
His son Larry attended the ceremony representing the family as
Francis’s other children could not come, due to the long distance
involved. Larry shared
some the family's memories and showed a videotape of his father
teaching Chemistry at Gallaudet University's laboratory.
The program closed with refreshments consisting of fruits,
vegetables, finger sandwiches and a wonderful cake.
Just so everyone knows --- Wyndholme
Village will be built! We
have 34 signed contracts and that number continues to grow.
Imagine what that number will be when we start putting on the
internet, pictures of the construction team digging the foundation for
the Watson House. Our
plan is to put up pictures daily and eventually hourly on the internet
so we can all become virtual “sidewalk engineers”.
So please, keep watching this space for the
latest information, events you can attend when you are in the area,
and pictures! We really
appreciate your continuing support and hope to meet you at this
beautiful community on the hill.
If you have any questions or concerns—please email, fax or TTY me. I
will be so very happy to help you in any way possible.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Willigan
